Schneider’s 2018 Melaphyr Riesling QbA dry wine received a ‘Five Star’ rating at the Harper’s Wine Stars competition. This is the highest rating available and is given to outstanding wines that comes highly recommended. The judges agreed that this dry Riesling is “Good quality, and has nice fruit on the nose and palate”. They also commented that it is “Great value for money”.
The Melaphyr Riesling was also voted ‘Top of the Crops 2020’ by Wines of Germany, which means it has been judged one of the best examples of wine from the Nahe region.
Schneider’s 2018 Melaphyr Riesling is a modern, crispy Riesling with intense flavours and a spicy exotic aroma.
The Melaphyr vineyard has a steep slope, which warms quickly and is based on volcanic rock.After a very long growing season, the Riesling grapes for this wine were hand-picked over two harvests in the early half of October. Then, after a maceration period of around six hours, the grapes were gently pressed. Finally, they were fermented in a temperature-controlled environment using natural yeast.
