Aromas of caramel, raisins, stone fruits, black tea, and stones. Sweet, concentrated, and creamy, with a punchy, stoney minerality and zesty acidity.
Taste: very expressive wine with a lot of fabric and good sweetness, but also very high mineral acid backbone which gives this wine a good bite
Terroir: This section was mentioned in the historic Mosel wine map as among the best in the region. The red slate, that dominates here, provides the wines with an herbal-spicy note, which makes itself especially clear with a bit of residual sugar. In particularly hot years, the southeast-facing of this vineyard is superior to those sites that face due south, because it is a bit cooler there in the evenings.
After soft pressing and most-oxidation we ferment for over 8-10 months in traditional old 1000-l-barrels. The long yeast-contact is a guaranty for a good mature wine in the bottle.
