Becker's Family Spätburgunder is clear, ruby red in colour. On the palate this dry red wine is juicy and elegant with good length and structure. In the nose it has scents of wild berries, tobacco, spices and forest floor.
The grapes that this Spätburgunder was produced from were grown in limestone soil with a heavy topsoil of loam and clay. The vines are 16 to 39 years old.
Hand picked and de-stemmed, the grapes were then macerated for 14 to 21 days to extract all the flavours and aromas from their skins. The juice was fermented in oak barrels for almost 12 months to gain even more flavour and complexity.
