The grapes used for this wine originate from the Ihringer Winklerberg, which is recognized as the warmest vineyard site in Germany. Due to strict reduction of yields, the distinctive terroir character, and the unique micro climate, this wine meets the highest requirements that is common for „Grand Cru“ appellations in France. After a traditional mash fermentation process, the wine has been aged for 18 months in mainly new barrique barrels to refine its character.
Tasting note: A highly complex bouquet which gracefully builds in flavour, yet is subtle and alluring with hints of dried cherries, cranberries, and red currant. The bouquet is discreetly underlaid with a smoky, mineralic touch and very fine hints of spices. A deep richness and perfectly balanced on the palate. A very precise acidity interfuses the fruit body that shows aromas of forest berries and pepper. Perfectly integrated firm tannin. Already marvellously fanned-out but as well with an immense potential for further development. Multi-layered delicacy in the long-lasting finish. A great Pinot Noir personality, likewise alluring, captivating, and full of character.
Food recommendation: A perfect partner with sophisticated meat dishes, especially with herb based roast meats. Equally good with game and various types of savoury cheeses.
