Bischel's Spätburgunder Premier Cru is smoky, with an elevated minerality and long finish. It has an intense cherry aroma with notes of nuts, cloves and white pepper. This elegant red wine has a pleasant acidity and tannins.
Vineyard: The Appenheimer Spätburgunder grows in the classified VDP.ERSTE LAGE (Premier Cru) Eselspfad vineyard. First mentioned in the 14th century, the Eselspfad is the warmest limestone vineyard of Appenheim. The site guarantees ripe and dark fruits for full bodied and long-lasting Pinot Noirs.
Vinification: The grapes are selected by hand, then fermented on skins with wild yeast. Afterwards, the wine matured in oak barrels for 18 months (30% new oak).
