Vineyard: Rheingau and Riesling - they definitely belong together. There is no other wine growing area in Germany that is dominated as much by one grape variety. The cool climate suits the characteristics of the grape variety perfectly and makes it an excellent all-rounder - from noble sweet wines to sparking wines - the Riesling can do it all.
Wine: Allendorf's 2017 Sekt Brut is a refreshing sparking wine, with delicate creamy notes and an elegant body. Brilliant light yellow in colour, it has an aroma of citrus fruits. The Sekt has fine pelage and fruit flavours with a binding complexity.
To achieve its supple texture and ripeness, 50% of the base wine was matured in large wooden barrels and underwent biological acid decomposition. This was followed by a second fermentation and yeast contact for at least 12 months during which the wine producer carried out a baronage (stirring of the yeast) twice a week for 10 months. This gives the sparking wine a fine perlage.
Food recommendation: This Sekt is a wonderful welcome drink. It also pairs well with fresh, light dishes, such as seafood salad.
