"A tinge of caramel on the nose. Chamomile flowers, white pithy bitterness, grapefruit. Slight smoke. Good structure." / Tamlyn Currin @ Jancis Robinson / 16 points

Vineyard: The “JESUITENGARTEN” is one of the very best vineyards in our neighbouring village of Forst and in the whole wine-growing area Pfalz (Palatinate) in Germany.
The “JESUITENGARTEN” is situated on a slope above the village of Forst – on its western brim. The vineyard is east-southeast facing. The soil of the vineyards in Forst is very particular. The word “Jesuitengarten” indicates that this piece of land was belonging to Jesuits-monks and was used as their garden to grow vines in their monastery.

Tasting notes: This dry Riesling is very mineralic, has a with fresh acidity and long finish. On the nose, it is a typical Riesling with peach, apple, mandarin and citrus aromas.

Soil: Sandy clay earth with a very high content of basalt and some inlayers of limestone.

Winemaking: The grapes were picked end of September. After a gentle pressing it fermented 2/3 in traditional oak barrels and 1/3 in stainless steel. The wine was kept on the yeast until bottling in July.

Food recommendation: Perfect with seafood and poultry.
