This Spätburgunder has delicate flavours of cherry, raspberry, sandalwood, and fine leather. It is a well structured wine with elegant tannins, a good body and a very good ageing potential.
The limestone soil where the vines are grown is perfectly suited to Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). The vines were planted in 1967 and produce very low yields, yet the quality of the grapes is always exceptional.
The grapes were picked by hand, de-stemmed and then fermented in open top oak vats. After fermentation the grapes were gently pressed and put into 225 litre barrels made from the finest German and French oak. This Garand Cru wine was never fined nor filtered.
