Chardonnay from the Ihringer Winklerberg site is marked by an extraordinary minerality that only can occur on the soil of weathered volcanic rock. This gives the wines in addition to their power, elegance and finesse. This wine has been fermented in barriques and ages in small French barrels.
Expressive fruit of yellow pears apricot and mirabelle refined with a touch of a smoky nuttiness resulting from the gentle barrique ageing. Silky and finely cut body, marvellously balanced and by no means too heavy. The yellow fruit aromas continue on the palate and become enriched by a salty minerality in the finish and a very good acidity structure.
Food recommendation: An ideal wine along with roasted or grilled fish, hearty roasts or Mediterranean fare. Equally good with various cheeses.
