Tasting notes: This Spätburgunder Grand Cru has flavours of dark cherries and ethereous components like cloves in the nose, which make it very very appealing. On the palate warm with dark berries and delicate chocolate flavours. Smooth and mouth filling depth with an enjoyable juicy texture, shaded with a well balanced velvety tannin structure. Long lasting finish with hints of violets and cinnamon.

Character: The grapes used for this wine originate from the Ihringer Winklerberg which is recognised as the warmest vineyard site in Germany. Due to strict reduction of yields, the distinctive terroir character, and the unique micro climate, this wine meets the highest requirements in the way as it is common for "grand Cru" appellations in France. After traditional fermentation in the skin, this wine has been aged for 18 months in barrique (80% new French oak) to refine its character.

Food recommendation: A perfect partner with sophisticated meat dishes, especially the herbs or roasted aromas play a major role. Equally good with game and various types of savoury cheeses.
