The grapes come from a 20-year old Riesling vineyard in the middle of the Aulerde site. The harvest is the end of September/ beginning of October, so that the grapes mature Riesling berries with intense fruit flavors that have not yet reached the Spätlese level.
The Riesling *1763* is a refreshing, classic and elegant wine, offers a lot of drinking pleasure and a welcome companion of various dishes. Its name recalls the year of the foundation of the winery by Johann Michael Groebe.
From the glacial valley of the Rhine rises to the southeast an inclined Westhofener vineyard on to the edge of a high plateau. Sheltering by the eastern and southern slopes of the parish in the Aulerde halfway up the slopes. The vineyards are slightly tilted to the south here. The special topographic situation on the edge of the relief termination provides optimum drainage facilities for cold air. Classified as VDP. Grosse Lage.
The actual Aulerde is one marked by loess loam and clay layer with even gravelly sands underground. The skeleton percentage is very low. Through a small part of real sandy soil here is well drained and usually easy to cultivate.
