Slate soil and a very steep vineyard. 70% new oak. 2012 was similar to 2009 with small berries, low yield and concentration. Haunting perfume, floats like a jewelled scarf out of the glass. Dark, pure, tense cherry fruit swaddled tightly in tannins. The oak is still flexing a bit of muscle, but the fruit seems even more lustrous against the dry spice.
