The name Sonnenberg (sunny mountain) speaks for itself. Because of its south-facing position and favourable slope angle it benefits from high sun intensity and advantageous microclimate. The soil is a stony conglomerate of slate and greywacke with a high percentage of loess and loam. The Pinot Noir of this vineyard is voluminous and full-bodied maintaining a fruity elegant character because of the slate contingent.
Harvest of the fully ripe grapes at the end of October 2014 with a yield of 25 hl/ha. Gentle treatment, ageing in Barrique for about 16 months (70% new oak).
Complex bouquet that is affected by blackberries, blackcurrant, morello cherry and chocolate with a hint of liquorice. Complex and long mouthfeel with harmonious tannin.

Drinking temperature is 15-16°C  with braised and grilled meat, game and ripe cheese.
