"Whimsical, comely nose of rose petals, violets dusted in icing sugar and sweet peas. The palate swirls light, gauzy skirts of Turkish delight, nougat, lime blossom and apple curd, showing a surprising weight of fruit underneath. Ripe quave. It;s a delight. Full of pep and flirtatiousness but not without substance." / Tamlyn Currin @ Jancis Robinson / 16.5 points
"The more site-specific the origin of a wine, the higher its quality."
They vineyards are maintained and self-managed with a great deal of lifeblood, expertise and, not least, plenty of work carries out of hand. Healthy, ripe grapes create the best wine which is the best ambassador of its origin. After careful, selected hand picking and gentle pressing, the quality from the vineyard is preserved and developed further in the cellar.
Site: Wisselbrunnen is situated half way between Erbach and Hattenheim. "Fistula", from Latin translated "Pipe", provided the site with the name it carries today. The 18 ha site has predominantly a light, tertiary marl soil. Deep layers consisting of loess throughout the Wisselbrunnen site guarantee an exceptional water balance. The wines captivate by their delicate finesse and fruity flavour, combined with a touch of spiciness. The distinct mineral character of the Wisselbrunnen is strongly enhanced by its Terroir and gives the wine its high potential of being recognised.
Wine: This Wisselbrunnen Kabinett is impressing by its rich fruity flavour of peach and apricot. There is a good balance harmony between acidity and sweetness which gives the wine a long finish. The character if this Kabinett is complex and shows the origin from the single vineyard Hattenheim Wisselbrunnen.
