St. Anna winery lies amidst the natural resource area “Haardtrand – Palatinate Forrest” just above the vintners of Burrweiler / South Wines Street. Being named after the nearby and well-known place of pilgrimage the “St. Anna Chapel”, the winery is recognised to be at the highest altitude on the Palatinate region.
With 10.5 hectares of naturally exposed vineyards, all St.Anna vineyards belong to the monopoly site. Hence only wines grown on these vineyards are allowed to be named after the St.Anna hill. The hills south-east alignment is complemented by the steep gradient, and allows us to take advantage of natures extraordinary diversity on order to create light, yet favourable wines. However, it’s aromatics are especially dependent on the meagre soil, the hill slope and the accordingly cold nights. All these factors add up to what wine-professionals understand as Terroir. The influence which defines a fine wines character.
