Wirsching’s 2016 Iphöfer Julius Echter Berg Riesling Beerenauslese won the Gold Decanter World Wine Award 2019.
This Beerenauslese originates from fully ripened, raisin-like (dried-up) Riesling berries. The concentrated flavours of dried fruit, honey & caramel and high amount of residual sugar promise an exceptional indulgence for those moments of magnificent taste.
On the palate it is fascinating in fruitiness and elegance, with notes of honey and citrus peel, and lush lemon curd finish. This Riesling’s perfect interplay of noble sweetness and acidity is impressive. On the nose it has a fine bouquet of apricots and peach, with light notes of honey and hints of papaya and pineapple.
When examining the wine in the glass the shiny golden colour and deep reflections show the elegance of this Riesling Berenauslese. It has a clear, brilliant character, where intense fruit aromas wonderfully combine with a refined acidity.
