"Mango, papaya, lime. Dry, bodacious, full-bodied but well defined. Shapely exuberant fruit. Zap ans zest and mouth-watering. Liquorice leaf and long, firm persistence on the finish. From my experence of Wirsching Scheurebe's, you'd benefit from tucking it away in a cool, dark cellar for an other couple of years." / Tamlyn Currin @ Jancis Robinson / 16 ++ points
The Scheurebe is a Wirsching speciality. The aroma is reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc, however, it is much fruitier despite being a dry white wine.
This Scheurebe Premier Cru fascinates with its play of aromas of exotic fruits such as mango, passion fruit, grapefruit and lemon balm. With its intense aroma and harmonious taste this Scheurebe Alte Reben, produced from grapes grown on old vines, is very impressive.
Scheurebe is a cross between Riesling and Bukettrebe. Wirsching are considered a regional pioneer of the Scheurebe grape variety, because in 1952 Hans Wirsching planted the very first Scheurebe in Franconia in the "Kroanberg". These many years of experience make Wirsching true experts of this grape.
Food recommendation: The perfect accompaniment to aromatic fishes, fruity or spicy Asian cuisine and cheese platters.
