The WineBarn collaborated with Wirsching to host an online wine tasting event recently. Participants were treated to five exceptional German wines from Franken's finest producer of Silvaner, Riesling and Scheurebe. Uwe Matheus from Wirsching guided participants through the history of the winery, their vineyards' terroir and the grape varieties of the region, which produce mainly dry, full-bodied white wines that are rich in minerality. Why not experience the wines for yourself whilst watching the highlights of the tasting session in the video below?
This Riesling Grand Cru has notes of wild herbs, pear, quince, gooseberry, white pepper, and hints of exotic fruits. On the palate it has a spicy vegetative character, strong flavour of terroir, is very dry, mineralic and develops slowly.
Noble fruit components, a delicate yet present acid-structure in combination with a rich extract give this Silvaner its distinctive taste. It has a delicate apricot-peach bouquet and fully ripened fruit flavour.
