The Wine: An international Pinot whose intensive aromas remind of blackberries, vanilla and liquorice. Toasting flavours provide fullness with a forceful finish. Fine tannins make it a well-balanced pleasure to drink. Quercus is the botanical term for oak and expresses the character of the barrique ageing. After a long fermentation on the skins and stems, the wine matures in barrels - 30% of which are of new wood - to give the wine fullness. After being matured in these barrels for 24 months, it develops into a powerful wine.
The Vineyard:At higher altitudes, on the slopes of the Taunus, the vines stand on sandy loess soil. Due to the east-west orientation, which is untypical for the Rheingau, the vineyards are bathed in sunshine from the hot midday hours into the evening, giving them the additional maturity and necessary power.
Food recommendation: Ideal with steak, burger or at the fire place.
