A Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) with intense aromas of blackberry, vanilla and liquorice. This full-bodied red has fine tannins and a forceful finish, making it a well-balanced pleasure to drink.
Quercus is the botanical term for oak, and this red wine expresses the character of its barrique (oak barrel) ageing. After a long fermentation on the skins and stems, the wine was matured in barrels - 30% of which are made of new wood, giving the wine fullness. After being matured in these barrels for 24 months, it develops into a powerful wine.
The grapes for this wine were grown at high altitude, on the slopes of the Taunus. The vines stand on sandy loess soil. Due to the east-west orientation, which is untypical for the Rheingau, the vineyards are bathed in sunshine from the hot midday hours into the evening, giving the vines the additional maturity and power.
