Classification: VDP.Grosse Lage is the designation for the highest quality German vineyards. This is where Germany's finest wines grow. Wines notable for their individual character and ability to express the essence of their vineyard of origin. We call dry wines from these vineyards VDP.Grosse Gewächs.
Vineyard: The vines are located on colourful marl and are at an altitude of 300 to 330 meters. The the west, the vineyard is frames by 2 meters high natural wall, it offers plants and small animals an important habitat and protects the vines from the westerly winds.
Located in the east at 350 m above sea level, a stream runs above the vineyard from which several water sources arise and supply the vines with sufficient water.
Wine: A wine like a journey through the Swabian soul. The nose offering a bouquet of dark cherries, blackberries and delicate earthiness.
On the palate, this Lemberger is full-bodied and finely structured with a vibrant acidity and firm, well-integrated tannins that promise excellent aging potential. The fruit is rich yet balanced, with flavours of juicy blackberries and cherries leading into nuanced notes of graphite and a touch of smokiness. A mineral undercurrent speaks to its terroir, adding elegance and length to the finish.
Aged in barriques for 16-18 months. The wine was bottled without filtration.
