Dr Heger's chardonnay, from the Ihringer Winklerberg site, is marked by an extraordinary minerality that only can occur as a result of soil from weathered volcanic rock. This gives the wine - in addition to its power - an elegance and finesse. It has been fermented in barriques and aged in small French barrels.
This dry white wine has a very precise filigree, and yet an expressive varietal aroma of young greengages, white hazelnuts, citrus compote and white apple, with a stony minerality, as well as very discreet smoky hints of spice. Minerality, freshness and a vivid core are the first impression on the palate. Dr Heger's chardonnay has a backbone full of character and a firm, but well-integrated acidity structure. It has a day bright aroma with a striking salty grip in the finish. This chardonnay has a great inner density, due to the firm structure, but is without any heaviness.
