Rich and complex, this full-bodied Riesling Grand Cru has flavours of quince, pear and exotic fruit. It has an excellent salty minerality in its long lasting finish. On the nose, it has aromas of peach, ripe apple, spice and herbs.
Vineyard: The grapes are picked from the oldest vines of the VDP. Grosse Lage (Grand Cru) Hundertgulden. The soil there is rich in limestone formed from coral reefs developed during the tertiary era. The steep south-west facing slope is one of the most calcareous vineyards of Germany, creating precise wines.
Vinification: All grapes were selected by hand. After a short maceration on skin, the must fermented with wild yeast in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels until January. Afterwards, the wine matured on lees until bottling in July.
