K. F. Groebe 2022 Kirchspiel Riesling Grand Cru dry

K. F. Groebe 2022 Kirchspiel Riesling Grand Cru dry

Regular price £63.60
"Limestone soils. Vines between 35 and 70 years old. This fills the mouth and then retreats, then fills and then retreats, like a concertina. Ripe citrus and mirabelle, then lime and stone dust. So much effulgent texture. Shining, chiastic acidity and structure hold the fruit suspended in time. A heart of sweet greengage and sweet lime. Intricate but not delicate – this is ferociously focused."

Wine: The Kirchspiel Riesling Grand Cru has a complex mineral structure and an aromatic spectrum that ranges from peaches and citrus fruits to apricots and mellow flint - typically associated with the Kirchspiel.

Vineyard: The vineyard is classified as VDP Grosse Lage. VPD. GROSSE LAGE (Grand Cru) is the highest classification of quality for German vineyards.

Located on the upper slopes of a south-easterly hillside, the vineyard is located in the historical part of Westhofen. A chain of hills to the west and north of the location protects the vineyards from cold winds. Due to the gradient and exposition of the land, the vineyards enjoy optimum exposure to the sun. The Kirchspiel terrain is composed predominantly of limestone, as well as weathered chalky clay. The vines here are over 50 years old.

Vinification: Maturation of the wine takes place in traditional wooden casks.
