Vineyard: The vineyard is located on the western brim of the town of Deidesheim, in the centre of the Palatinate wine growing area. The name of the vineyard Kalkofen is related to an old limestone-brick oven in the middle-ages. This indicates a high content of limestone in
this part of the vineyards, which offers a lot of minerality to the vines.
The exposition of the vineyard is east, south-east, which guarantees a lot of direct sun influence from the early morning to the late afternoon.
Soil: Sandy and clay soils with several in-layers of limestone
Wine: Hand-selected grapes were harvested and pressed in several passes. The must was sedimented overnight and then fermented in stainless steel tanks. The individual batches were combined shortly before filling in July.
White peach, apple and passion fruit are the dominant aromas in this Riesling.
In the mouth is shows an almost chalky minerality and saltiness paired with fresh acidity.
Alcohol: 12,5% vol.
