This Spätburgunder Premier Cru has fine notes of blackcurrant and cherry, as well as sweet spices. This full-bodied wine is well-concentrated with a juicy freshness.
Vineyard: The grapes for the Gas-Algesheim Spätburgunder were grown in the classified VDP.ERSTE LAGE (Premier Cru) Johannisburg vineyard. Named after St. John, the vineyard is next to a centuries-old stone path that guides to the Jakobsberg monastery. The loamy limestone soil and warm temperature guarantees concentrated and powerful Pinot Noirs with freshness and excellent ageing potential.
Vinification: The grapes were selected by hand and fermented on skins with wild yeast. Afterwards, the wine matured in oak barrels for 18 months (30% new oak). The wine was then bottled without filtration.
