Wine: This Riesling Grand Cru has seductive aromas of citrus fruits, apricots and quinces, which promise richness and fruitfulness in the nose. On the palate, this dry white wine has pronounced fruit flavours with a fine mineral structure, supported by its crystalline acidity.
Vineyard: The region's best known and worldwide renowned vineyards are situated around Erbach and Hattenheim, the centre of the Rheingau region. The Schloss Reinhartshausen wine estate lies in the heart of this unique terroir and is able to draw from the legendary vines of these top sites. Every wine from one of these sites is uniquely outstanding.
This small, exclusive 10 ha site is situated advantageously at the protruding edge of a gap in the valley, in an unusually high spot that is exposed to abundant sunshine. These factors are ideal for terroir-driven Rieslings of remarkable finesse.
Vinification:
Harvested by hand, the ripe golden Riesling grapes were collected in small boxes to prevent them being crushed during transportation, which can cause oxidisation.
The whole grapes were gently pressed and juice filtered to remove any impurities, guaranteeing a clean fermentation. The steady fermentation process takes place at a maximum of 15°C. The wine is then separated from the yeast and left in stainless steel tanks for six months.
After filling, the wine needs time to readjust to the new milieu. The filled bottles are laid horizontally in boxes and brought down to the cellar where they’re kept for one to two years until ready to drink. Finally, the bottles are washed and labelled, and the Riesling Grand Cru is ready for distribution.
Food Recommendations: This wine is the perfect accompaniment to mussels or crustaceans.
