The tannins of this Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) are in harmony with its fruitiness. A typical Pinot Noir, it has a cool elegance. It also shows great aging potential.
Low yield, ideal soil conditions and an early harvest are the pillars of the great Spätburgunder. The fermentation on 10% of the stems gives the wine fine phenolic textures. To capture the power, they mature the wine in first and second use barrique barrels. After 18 month in the barrel, the wine is bottled unfiltered.
Vineyard: The Assmannshäuser Höllenberg is legendary vineyard for producing first class Pinot Noirs. It is situated at the point where the Rhine River bows, so the vineyards are south-facing. This, combined with the slate rich soil, means the vineyard captures and retains the sun's heat, creating optimum conditions for growing Pinot Noir vines.
Food Recommendation: This powerful Pinot Noir pairs well with game and any other kind of dark meat. It is compliments strong flavoured dishes, whilst emphasising it's own power.
