"Nuttiness, and a trace of smoke, a lick of bitter green and reminds me a bit of the green kale and celery juice I had earlier today. Super-refreshing, super-crunchy." / Tamlyn Currin @ Jancis Robinson / 15.5 points
Origin: Schloss Reinhartshausen's vineyards are managed with a great deal of care and expertise. Healthy, ripe grapes create a Riesling Sekt that is an excellent ambassador of its origin - demonstrating the multi-facetted character of its terroir. Grapes are hand picked and gently pressed, so the quality of the vines is preserved and developed further in the cellar.
Vintage: Ageing sur Lie means leaving the Sekt, with the fine yeast without filtration for 48 months, so the Sekt becomes creamier and smoother on the palate. This help to develop the Sekt's tertiary aroma of Brioche, as well as its nut flavours.
Vineyard: The Marcobrunn vineyard, within Erbach, has sloping vineyards. The name Marcobrunn dates back to the 13th century and stems from a spring on the border between Erbach and Hattenheim. The vineyard area, which is only 6.7 hectares, grows only Riesling. Heavy loess loam and chalky soil ensures a perfect nutrient supply, and regulates the water levels during the dry periods.
Schloss Reinhartshausen's Sekt expresses a pure lust for life, and is the pearl of the winemaker.
