Bischel 2017 Binger Scharlachberg Riesling dry

Bischel 2017 Binger Scharlachberg Riesling dry

Regular price £35.60

This dry Riesling slowly releases mineralic notes like firestone and wild herbs, followed exotic aromas, such as sweet apricot, passion fruit, lime and other citrus fruits which develop with more exposure. This white wine has a very long, structured and lasting finish.

Vineyards: The grapes that produced this Riesling were from one of Bischel's top sites - Binger Scharlachberg. This very warm and terraced vineyard is characterised by its quartzite and slate rich soil. The soil has a high concentration of iron which leads to a red glowing vineyard in the summer. Poor water penetration of this barren stony ground reduces the growth of the vines and enhances the ripening process of the extreme small tasty Riesling berries.

The very late harvest of the extremely ripe grapes is done by hand in stages of ripeness. Optimal extraction of aromas is being achieved by pressing the grapes straight after picking and letting them rest for a few hours at the winery. After gentle pressing, the juice ferments with wild yeasts in stainless steel. The wine was bottled after eight months on the yeast.
