Göttelmann 2021 Kapellenberg Le Mur Riesling dry white wine

Göttelmann 2021 Kapellenberg Le Mur Riesling dry

Regular price £22.65

"From a vineyard they bought in 1990s which cost a mere €6,000 ... and then it cost them €20,000 to rebuild the old stone wall around the vineyard! On red slate.
Apricots, kiwi fruit, smoke and long, lazy, curling lines of minerality. This is good. Persistent, precise, but with a subtle underlying richness and largesse. The address may not be a grand Grosse Lage but there is arresting beauty here. Long and deep. GV (TC)"

Vineyard: The flagship of Göttelmann's Rieslings, the grapes were grown in one of the best sites, southbound, steep, sheltered from the cold wind of Hunsrück mountains and surrounded by a wall, so the youngest daughter of the next Göttelmann generation suggested to call this vineyard "Le Mur", which sounds much nicer then "Die Mauer" or "The Wall".

This vineyard was pented 15 years ago, the average yield is about 50 hl/ha, picking starts in the last week of October or even in the first week of November. The wine was fermented and matured with indigenous yeast in huge oak casks. it has been filled after long contact with the yeast in May. The number of filled bottles were 1700.

Wine: This wine has a spicy aroma of apricot and white currants, little residual sugar, that keeps it away from being one dimensional. It has a long aftertaste and the best prediction to last for next five years.

Food recommendation: All kind of fish, crustacean, even to pasta with sugo of basil.

Alcohol: 12,5% vol.
Res. sugar: 5,5 g/l
Acidity: 7,5 g/l
