K. F. Groebe 2021 Kirchspiel Riesling Auslese white wine

K. F. Groebe 2021 Kirchspiel Riesling Auslese (0,375l)

Regular price £56.20
"Mirabelle and crab-apple jam. Heartbreakingly delicious, and, amazingly, not that sweet tasting. Beautiful harp-like intensity, humming, every note perfect. Delicately, diaphanously spicy. Cashmere. Limpid. It should be criminal to open a bottle of this so early, even for tasting."

Wine: This Riesling Auslese has intense fruit flavours.

Vineyard: The vineyard is classified as VDP Grosse Lage. VPD. GROSSE LAGE (Grand Cru) is the highest classification of quality for German vineyards.

The grapes were harvested from K. F. Groebe's oldest Riesling vineyards in Kirchspiel where the vines are over 50 years old. Located on the upper slopes of a south-easterly hillside, the vineyard is located in the historical part of Westhofen. A chain of hills to the west and north of the location protects the vineyards from cold winds. Due to the gradient and exposition of the land, the vineyards enjoy optimum exposure to the sun. The Kirchspiel terrain is composed predominantly of limestone, as well as weathered chalky clay.

Vinification: The harvest took place late in the season to ensure fully ripened, golden/yellow Riesling berries with intense fruit flavours, and also noble rot shrivelled raisin berries, could be picked.
