Pfarrwingert creates extremely aromatic fruity and subtle wines with an elegant flavour.

The name Pfarrwingert goes back to the Catholic Church of Dernau, that is still the land owner within this region. The especially favourable south-facing slope and soil that is easily warmed up, cause an advantageous micro-climate in this vineyard.

The high percentage of greywacke and slate is partially decomposed to a sandstone like structure.

Meyer-Näkel's exceptional Dernauer Pfarrwingert Spätburgunder Grand Cru dry wine is a result of grapes that come from old vines, meticulous vineyard work, consistent yield reduction and careful hand-picking. Harvest of the fully ripe grapes with a yield of 30hl/ha gentle treatment, ageing in barrique for about 16 months (70% new oak) and stored for six months in the bottle.

Tasting notes: This wine has an aroma of dark cherries, wild blackberries, ripe raspberries and blueberries. This intense fruit aroma is underlined by a soft roasted aroma and violets. It is full bodied red wine with an elegant tannin structure.

Sustainability: Meyer-Näkel are a certified member of FAIR'N GREEN.
