The grapes for this vintage were grown in a particularly hot, dry year - producing one of the best vintages in the 20th century - comparable with 1921 and 1959.
Also Vereinigte Hospitien's best Auslese, it is full-bodied in style, with notes of orange marmalade, dried peaches and oriental spices.
It has a long, fruit driven finish ending on sweets like caramel and figs.
