Allendorf 2020 Assmannshäuser Frenkenthal Spätburgunder Premier Cru dry

Allendorf 2020 Assmannshäuser Frenkenthal Spätburgunder Premier Cru dry

Regular price £33.35
"A hot, dry vintage but they picked 10 days earlier than everyone else. The nose is beautiful and so is the wine. The fruit is on the verge of dried cranberries and dried cherries, but is full of juice. Masses of pepper. Loam and mushrooms. Broad and ample; amplitude and embrace; arms-wide-open generosity. A wine you could sink into at the end of a long, tough day and it would ask nothing of you but to stop."

The delicate Frankenthal convinces with its profound nature. A grippy wine with a cook cool acidity and delicate at the same time. A deep Spätburgunder with spiciness and minerality.

Vineyard: VDP.Erste Lage designated first-class sites in Germany with an autonomous profile. They provide optimal growing conditions for consistantly producing wines of the highest quality. The sites are carefully defined and delimited by the VDP regional associations. To the east of the world-famous Höllenberg, their 30-50 year old vines grow on quartzite and slate weathered soils.
The steep north-south slopes provide an ideal exposure for the excellent Spätburgunder of this site.

A steep and sunlit slopes give the Frankenthal a special indintity. In order to preserve this identity, the wine is aged exclusively in second and third use barriques. After 18 months in wooden barrels, in which the unique minerality is not marked, the wine is bottled infiltered.
