Bercher 2022 Burkheimer Feuerberg Kesselberg Spätburgunder Grand Cru Dry Red Wine

Bercher 2021 Burkheimer Feuerberg Kesselberg Spätburgunder Grand Cru dry

Regular price £55.75
"Bercher warns that this wine, from a vineyard on volcanic soil, needs quite a bit of time. The 2021 is too young to drink.

Cranberry and rose hip, mountains and music. The texture, the tannins, are deeply woven into the fruit, the wine grips and holds with startling defiance yet filigree tensility. Layer upon layer, it soars then glides. Very complex and it holds, and holds, the line."

"I love wines from volcanic soils, and Weingut Bercher’s focus on expressing them in their wines is clear. This is the winemaker’s favourite, and after one sip I understood why. Bramble fruits, wet leaves and volcanic earthiness – if you could bottle Autumn, I imagine it would taste like this"
Lauren Sharples
Sommelier for the Angel at Hetton

"Fragrant notes of wild strawberry, hibiscus, redcurrant. Taut and linear with a stony backbone and dancing fruit. Spicy and nutty accents with citrus precision and good herbal contours. Expressive and eloquent now but will continue to develop with time".
