This Spätburgunder Premier Cru has stimuleting aroma of cassis and fine wood followed by firm early aromas. In the mouth much spice, tea, liquorice and dense berry fruit. In the finish very powerful, concentrated with Burgindian impression and elegance.
Vineyard: The grapes for the Gas-Algesheim Spätburgunder were grown in the classified VDP.ERSTE LAGE (Premier Cru) Johannisburg vineyard. Named after St. John, the vineyard is next to a centuries-old stone path that guides to the Jakobsberg monastery. The loamy limestone soil and warm temperature guarantees concentrated and powerful Pinot Noirs with freshness and excellent ageing potential.
Vinification: The grapes were selected by hand and fermented on skins with wild yeast. Afterwards, the wine matured in oak barrels for 18 months (30% new oak). The wine was then bottled without filtration.
